So, now that I'm officially a "supermom," I've got all the time in the world to tell you all about my son.
One month old!
My little baby boy is a whole month old! WOW, how time flies! I must say that he's looking just as cute as a button, and I've fallen in love with just about everything about him. He's gained two and a half pounds since birth and already has outgrown his premie clothes. He also has a double chin now. :-D As I mentioned earlier, he's already been to the hospital twice and has undergone hernia surgery. OUCH! But he's really good as new, it seems, and Steven and I have really enjoyed having our little peanut around. So far, his temperament is about as good as a parent can hope for. He doesn't cry much at all, and he's already sleeping 5+ hours at a time. Steven and I are still trying to figure out where this good behavior is coming from. We both know that we don't deserve such a good natured baby. (Oh, and by the way, thanks mom and dad for putting up with my wailing when I was a wee one.) We love you little man...snorts, squeaks, and all.

Sick Baby Colton :(
Early Friday morning, our little Colton began throwing up and was unable to keep food down. After going to the pediatrician’s office, Colton and I went to the ER at Children’s. Colton bravely endured the poking and prodding necessary to get an IV in him and to determine that he had a hernia which needed to be fixed quickly. So at noon today, our little baby went into surgery at Children’s hospital, and after two long hours, his surgeon came by to tell us that the delicate surgery was successful. I have never been so happy to hold my baby as when I picked him up from the recovery room. Colton has been eating well and recovering quickly, and we anticipate going home on Sunday afternoon. His strength and peace through this whole ordeal has amazed us. Steven & I would like to thank all of our family & friends who kept our little Colton in prayer this weekend. We also thank God for keeping him safe in his hands.
 Colton Dean Bishop
Surprise!!!
On the morning of Wednesday, September 28th at 6:34am, our bundle of joy, Colton Dean Bishop, entered the world. He was exactly 30 days early, but he was a healthy 5 pounds 10.9 ounces and 18 inches long. He has a wee bit of jaundice, but the doc says that he just needs a little sunshine to fix that. He's a very mellow baby, but he's eating well and already made a net weight gain of 2 oz from his birth weight. He's got an itty bitty body; we had to go buy some premie baby clothes because the newborn clothes he has doesn't fit at all yet. Steven & I have fallen in love with our baby over the past few days. Birth truly is a miraculous process, even birth by c-section. I'm doing just fine from the surgery. It's slowed me down a bit, but day by day, I'm getting stronger and am able to do a little more. Steven has been overwhelmingly supportive in taking care of Colton while I'm recovering from surgery and has taken to his new role as a father better than I could have imagined. I thank God for such a loving and caring husband. Colton has changed our world, and I can't overstate how thankful and blessed we are to have him in our lives.
